About Hilary
Born in Galway and raised in Roscommon, Ireland, Hilary Bernie is an educator by profession, he is best known for his involvement and role as C.A.O. with the iconic, New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade which dates back to 1762.
Beirne maintains a deep connection with Ireland and is a strong advocate for Irish citizens living abroad.

- He will represent all NUI graduates and engage the over 50% of graduates living abroad, in order to have a more representative NUI constituency in Seanad Éireann.
- He seeks the engagement of the 1 million Irish-born nationals (emigrants) living abroad, (20% of Ireland’s population) in order to foster stronger economic and political ties with them for the benefit of Ireland.

- Throughout most of Brexit, he was the sole Irish-born national to be a member of the Irish Ad Hoc Committee to Protect the Good Friday Agreement in Washington, DC.
- His engagement with Irish citizens across the globe has earned him global recognition and his experiences living outside Ireland can bring fresh insight to discussions in the Oireachtas.
